Whether you’re someone that’s new to having your website hosted or you’re totally new to the experience, it will always be a pain finding the best web host that offers the lowest prices while offering you some valued freebies. Here we will take a look at both blue host and ipage web hosting providers and see which one is the most hospitable, allowing you to get the most for your money.
It took me a few hours of searching around on the internet to narrow it down to these two web hosts. The first thing that appealed to me about ipage was their low monthly rate. Ipage offers its services for 3.50 a month, which is pretty affordable. The first thing I didn’t like about ipage was the fact that you have to pay for a year of their services upfront. It’s not a huge fee, but regardless, I like to pay for services on a monthly basis, especially in the event I end up not being satisfied with their service and decide to switch.

Ipage versus Bluehost
So I moved on to Blue host to take a peek at their prices and see what they had to offer. Right off the bat, in huge white letters was the price of 5.95$ a month. After seeing ipage’s cheaper price, I was immediately suspicious of a webhost that would cost twice as much, so I book marked it and began to again peruse the internet looking for Mr. Right web host.
I found myself back at Blue host, for reasons I can’t explain. Maybe it was all the flashy advertising on a random site and I accidentally clicked on a banner, I’m not sure, but there I was again.
After looking around a bit I decided that blue host didn’t look half bad. Sure they were a little pricey, at least compared to ipage, but Blue host lets you pay for their services on a monthly basis and obviously that was something I was looking for.
Being someone that was starting out with a few sites in the works, I came up with the genius plan to go with both. Hear me out. Both Blue host and Ipage offer an anytime money back guarantee, and I know it can be a pain transferring over a website, but they also both claimed their sites were featured an easy transfer process.
In the end I spent quite a bit more than I intended, but I felt it was the only sure way to figure out which web host I liked better since I was going to use the winning web host for several years to come, hence the blue host vs. ipage rivalry continued.

So I spent some time with each web host, and I came to the conclusion that blue host makes me want my money back with a passion. Firstly, being the more costly than the two, the saying “you get what you pay for” comes to mind, except in this case it’s uncalled for considering I paid more for Blue host.
If you need assistance with an issue you’re having, setting up your site, call your mother, your neighbor or the guy next door, just whatever you do, don’t hold your breath for blue host. True, Blue host does have people available to answer your calls, and they do answer rather quickly, with a pre-recorded message that lets you know they’ll be with you momentarily or that they are experiencing a high call volume. This is kind of hard to believe at 3am. I patiently waited to speak with a live person and after 15 minutes on hold, I hung-up and decided to just use their live chat. I know I must be dreaming when I have to answer several questions before beginning the live chat, and once initiated I am met with “Hey this is Nick! Please keep in mind I’ll be helping several other people while I’m helping you as well, so please be patient, I’ll be with you shortly!” it left me feeling wondering if this Nick person was also the same person in charge of answering the phone as well. I left the chat window up for ten minutes just to get a message from “Nick” that my password was incorrect. I gently shutdown my computer and went to sleep.
I’ve spent the morning on ipage and have found their website to be much easier to navigate, and their tech support person was much quicker and more helpful than Mr. Nick.
Both webhosting sites offer freebies in marketing tools and free domain name registration, which is a huge plus for me. However I found myself having issues connecting to the website that was hosted by Blue Host. I tried logging accessing my website from my laptop, desktop and phone and felt that at least one out of four times I had to refresh the page after getting a message that the site was unavailable.
This was frustrating considering I was paying more for them and so I’d automatically expected high performance results. Who wouldn’t?
I tried the same tactic with ipage, trying several times to access one of my sites. I’ll admit it, I was hoping for worse results than the one Blue host provided, just so I could feel a little smug about the cost issue, but lo and behold if my ipage site didn’t load each and every time.
I then made the decision to switch over to ipage. Sure, I wasn’t thrilled about handing over a year’s worth of hosting fee’s, but the overall price was more than affordable, and compared to having to deal with Blue Host’s poor customer service and highly unreliable website access I almost felt guilty about secretly seeing another web host behind ipages back.
I’m still using ipage these days, and for those out there that are inexperienced when it comes to having their own website, ipage has some really cool user friendly website building tools. Their site is easy to get around on, they actually do provide a 99.9% up-time and their customer service reps are available twenty-four hours a day seven days a week and respond in a timely manner.
They do offer those aforementioned free marketing tools, for sites like Facebook, Yahoo and Google adwords. Which really helped get my sites names out there and they also let me host all of my websites under the same account for the same price, so I didn’t have to pay more when I had my other two sites transferred over. Ipage has given me a pretty great web hosting experience, and for that I am truly grateful, so thank you, ipage.
